Admin on the left - Gate house access on the right |
On your first day, Anastasia will issue you with gate passes - a piece of paper roughly A5 in size with a stamp, written in Russian. It pays to write your name on the back if your with your patient as it's difficult to figure out which pass is yours.
From then on, you'll enter and leave the hospital through the gate house (on the right of the gate as you enter).
Below is a map of the hospital and some photos of the grounds. The grounds are beautiful and you will come to enjoy them over your stay. On the first sign of frost many of the flower beds were pulled out, so enjoy them while you can. While we were there they built a smokers hut so that smokers didn't have to exit the grounds to smoke.
You will be based on the 2nd and 3rd floors for the stay. The 4th floor was under renovation for use in the future for HSCT patients.
Inside the hospital it is very warm. We visited in Oct/Nov, the start of the colder months for Moscow. Some days it was -10 C. But inside the hospital (and every shopping centre I visited) it was +25 C. I made the mistake the first few days of having thermals on to travel. You'll only need a T-shirt inside the hospital. I recommend dressing so that you can easily remove jackets, jumpers etc on arrival.
There is small café on the grounds (see map below).
